Tax-tool review
SUMM - crypto tax tool for the DeFi user
Formerly CryptoTaxCalculator, now SUMM - Australian tool with 1,000+ exchange integrations, MetaMask and Coinbase official partnership, and a specialisation in DeFi and Web3 portfolios

SUMM (formerly CryptoTaxCalculator) is a crypto tax tool with the widest integration set on the market - 1,000+ exchanges, 85+ blockchains and 200+ wallets. It is the official tax partner for MetaMask and Coinbase, with particularly strong DeFi support. In this friendly review we look at whether SUMM fits a Baltic or Nordic user, the pricing structure, which national tax forms it generates, and when Koinly or Divly may be the better pick.
What is SUMM?
SUMM is an Australian crypto tax tool that, until 2024-2025, went by the name CryptoTaxCalculator. It is the same product with the same account and the same integrations - only the name and domain have changed (from cryptotaxcalculator.io to summ.com). Existing customers do not need to do anything; logins and data are preserved.
SUMM's main pitch is simple: the widest integration set on the market. The tool connects to 1,000+ exchanges, 85+ blockchains and 200+ wallets, which is more than Koinly, Divly or Blockpit. On top of that, it is the official tax partner for MetaMask and Coinbase - a rare trust signal.
Who is it for?
SUMM is built with DeFi and Web3 enthusiasts in mind. If your portfolio is just Bitcoin and Ethereum on a single exchange, any tool will do the job. But if you use MetaMask across multiple Layer 2 networks, have interacted with Uniswap, Aave or GMX, and own NFTs on several blockchains - SUMM is stronger than its competitors here.
Core features include:
- DeFi and Layer 2 support across Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base and other networks
- NFT support with purchase and sale tracking
- Staking, mining and yield farming income classification
- Margin and futures support for professional traders
- Cost-basis methods: FIFO, LIFO, HIFO, AVCO and specific identification
Pricing plans
SUMM has four plans and no free tier:
- Rookie - €49 per year, up to 100 transactions
- Hobbyist - €99 per year, up to 1,000 transactions
- Investor - €189 per year, up to 10,000 transactions (best value)
- Trader - €379 per year, up to 100,000 transactions
For comparison, Koinly starts at a free tier and offers similar functionality at lower prices for simple portfolios. SUMM's Investor plan with 10,000 transactions is competitive for an active DeFi user.
Does it fit a Baltic or Nordic user?
Here is SUMM's main weakness. The tool is stronger on the Australian and US markets, and the European forms are less developed. Even so, SUMM supports the following local forms:
| Country | Authority | Form |
|---|---|---|
| Latvia | VID | D-21 (capital gains) |
| Lithuania | VMI | GPM308 |
| Estonia | MTA / EMTA | Tulu deklaratsioon (vorm A) |
| Finland | Verohallinto | Lomake 9 |
| Sweden | Skatteverket | K4 / K15 |
| Norway | Skatteetaten | RF-1359 |
| Denmark | Skattestyrelsen | Årsopgørelse |
A note for Latvian users: SUMM generates VID D-21 data, but the form is less developed than in Koinly or Divly. Before filing, verify the output against the VID requirements or consult a tax advisor.
Pros
- 1,000+ exchange integrations, more than anywhere else
- 85+ blockchains with a Layer 2 focus
- Official partner for MetaMask and Coinbase
- Strong DeFi, NFT and Web3 protocol support
- Investor plan with 10,000 transactions at a good price
Cons
- No free tier, unlike Koinly
- Latvian and other European forms are less developed than in specialised tools
- No Latvian-language interface (English only)
- Trader plan is expensive (€379)
- Brand change 2024-2025 - some Google results still show CryptoTaxCalculator
When to pick SUMM, when to pick something else
Pick SUMM if:
- You have an active DeFi portfolio with transactions across several blockchains
- Your main wallet is MetaMask or your main exchange is Coinbase
- You have 1,000+ transactions per year
- You want the widest possible integration set
Pick Koinly or Divly if:
- You have a simple portfolio (Bitcoin, Ethereum, a few altcoins on one exchange)
- You want a free tier for testing
- You want a better-developed Baltic or Nordic tax form
For former CryptoTaxCalculator customers: SUMM is the same product. Sign in at summ.com with the same password; data and integrations are preserved.
Summary
SUMM is a professional choice for the DeFi and Web3 enthusiast with a broad, active portfolio. Its integration set and MetaMask/Coinbase partnership give it advantages that are hard to find elsewhere. For Baltic or Nordic users with a simple portfolio, however, regional solutions (Koinly, Divly) may be a better fit thanks to better-developed local forms and a free tier.
